The Impalers impale, the Leviathans leave.

“We got 2 old school teams here, I didn’t go to school with them though. The Leviathuns are gonna kick ass and chew juicy fruit. Them Paalers are more of the thinkin kinda team. So I don’t know what they’ll do. WOO FOOTBALL!”

The teams meet midfield, the cloaked summoner from the Leviathans is quiet as Conquest speaks for him. Iroque comes up with Trunks who’s hair is purple at the moment, much to the chagrin of the brothers Winchester who know what the Saiyan is capable of. The coin goes up, and the Impalers will receive. “WOOO! We gonna see somebody die now!” The redneck commentator begins to shovel popcorn into his mouth.

Pinhead kicks, the ball sails high, but not far. Glenn Rhee takes the kickoff and heads up the field. He weaves deftly, keeping clear of Kratos, Venom and the Terminator as finally the horsemen Conquest and Famine corner him and he goes down at the Leviathans 40 yard line. Impalers offense takes the field.

Trunks, a new QB to the league, looks left and right, hits a quick handoff to the Grey Mouser who makes Glenn’s moves look like childsplay as he weaves through the Urak-hai. For a quick touchdown to start the game. Parallax “kicks”. However that works, and the Impalers prep to kickoff to the Levaithans.

Leviathans have Famine and Conquest linedup to take the kickoff. As the ball sails through the air Iroque glows a deep indigo and the field is flooded with compassion. Half of the players on the Leviathans collapse immediately, suddenly overwhelmed at the lives they’ve blindly taken over the decades. Venom, before SHIELD took him in, was guilty of so much killing. So much blood on his hands, all their hands. Famine and Conquest seem unaffected, they simply are what they are. There’s no reason to get worked up about lives lost. People starve daily. Victory sometimes requires someone to lose a life. They tear across the field on the Impalers. Conquest is in his element, riding down his opponent one after the other, until Parallax unhorses him and sends him flying several yards back. The Leviathans will take it from their 45 yard line. “WOOO! Did you see that? He’s like all *insert strange horse riding noise here* and then that there yellow guy was like ‘Nope’ and smack!  YEEHAW!” For some reason, this tickles the commentator to no end.

Larfleeze attempts to climb aboard the horse Conquest was knocked from. But it kicks him off as he shouts “MIIINNEE” and lands on his behind. He gathers his lantern and goes to the sideline as The Hand takes the field. Conquest and Famine are steel eyed. But they can tell their comrades have lost some of their fervor. Freddy looks like he might be dreaming himself, Pinhead doesn’t look ready to kill, Kratos doesn’t even has his blades out, Venom looks slightly emaciated, even the Terminator doesn’t have his normal angry look. The horsemen share a look, and know they’ll have to shoulder the load against these ninjas. The ball is hiked, the horsemen tear forth into the ninjas driving several yards before a chain is strung out and knocks both horsemen from their saddles. This won’t go easily, they glance to the Elder God beside them, the only one here who might be older than them. He nods silently. The ball is hiked, and the air on the opposing side of the line of scrimmage seems to shudder and shake as The Hand’s members fall to the ground stricken by some invisible force. The horsemen ride to the endzone without any resistance. The extra point is good and the game is tied. “Them Palers are gonna make the Leviathuns work for this one. No mass murdering today!”

The Impalers gather together for the kickoff, for some reason allowed the muted Deadpool to catch the ball in the backfield. The horsemen charge hard. Violator and Red Hulk hot on their tails. The Merc-without-a-mouth, holds back for 2 moments, then lunges forwards and his body is covered in fire as he begins to spin and fly forward tearing through the Leviathans for another quick score. Trunks hasn’t even got to work yet, and the score is 14-7 Impalers. Parallax kicks another time for the extra point, then again down the field to the Leviathans. Conquest and Famine gallop up the field until Trucks knocks Conquest out of his seat. Finally, getting to earn his keep.

Conquest readies his men. Tries to get them worked up as the 2nd quarter begins. And they slowly begin to react a little. Terminator first, throwing a few elbows here and there as he drives his short passes into converted field goals. Not exactly his normal furious self, but better at least. The Leviathans get close enough for a kick and accept it. The clock is their friend here, they need to buy time so the witches blue light magic can weaken further. Pinhead kicks, showing a little more gusto. And Larfleeze catches the kickoff. John McClane, beside Larfleeze, shouts “I’m going to take that ball from you!” and begins to chase his own teammate. Larfleeze reacts as you’d expect by smacking him upside the head with a power battery. Making it easy for Famine to stop the Orange Lantern as he yells “MINE! MINE!” constantly. Back by where the Leviathans had started, Violator is seen laughing watching John McClane get up and wonder what hit him.

Trunks gets to finally take over the offense. Splitting passes between Gleen Rhee who takes big strides before the Urak-Hai get him out of bounds, and the Gray Mouser, who takes a moment to shiv them every once in a while. The Urak-Hai flood of orcs never ceases though. The head orc in the center grunts something different, Sam hears the different in the guttural language and yells out to Trunks. The Saiyan nods and drops back far as the orcs blitz hard, as the horde comes at him, he charges up and slams through them, an easy first down, on a charge that results in another touchdown for the Impalers.

Conquest speaks with his coach, the orcs simply aren’t effective. There’s a better option, and it needs to be exercised, and now. The summoner understands, and motions for Red Hulk to begin getting warmed up. Which results in him getting angry and very warm. The Impalers kick their extra point, and Conquest takes another ball to the 50 yard line with the kickoff. They need to score now to stay in this before halftime. Conquest begins a series of screen passes to Famine, getting Cthulhu involved as well, driving down the field for a touchdown and risky two point conversion as the half ends.
The redneck at the media table looks bored. “They said there’d be blood and guts. All I see is horseshit.”

The Leviathans exit the locker room looking less than delighted. Terminator finally looks right to wreck something. The horror flick stars and the symbiotes aren’t quite as excitable. The Impalers kick off to the Leviathans, Conquest catches the ball and rides forward, when suddenly he is struck from his horse by Venom. The ball goes loose at Violators feet, but he hesitates moving towards it, as he seems to be staring at Venom who is lashing about wildly with Cthulhu now. Trunks drops from the sky and sweeps up the ball, taking the fumble in for a touchdown. As Venom snaps out of his possession he strides over to Violator demanding an explanation. Violator pales, as much as a clown can, and looks at the emotional entity of fear hovering around midfield. If could Parallax could look smug, that’s what he’d look like. The emotional entity leave to prep for his extra point kick.
After another solid kick, the Leviathans find themselves down by 10. Conquest is angry. Violator is exhausted from having his mind ravaged by Parallax. Famine wants a cookie. But there’s still a game to play. Conquest and Famine get back out on the field, working Terminator and Cthulhu again Terminator finally lashing out and taking some ninjas out for extra yards needed for a first down. The Leviathans are winning the “time of possession” game here, and we’re not talking mental. But the Impalers turnaround is too fast. The drive ends in a touchdown, making it a 3 point game. But, the drives takes a lot of time off the board, and the 4th quarter begins.

As the Impalers begin their drive, Harry Dresden makes a funny hand motion a the Red Hulk, who’s been much better than the previous orcs, or was, until he falls backwards incapacitated. John McClane runs a TD over the top of the Hulk.

The rogues gallery is finally up to snuff again. Terminator is locked and loaded. Baraka comes in to play Tight End for Freddy, who still isn’t up for slashing. And the kick goes up to the Leviathans. Conquest with the catch, and Baraka takes up his flank, opposing Famine. The Gray Mouser gets close, blades flash, and the Mouser stops, holding his arm. McClane tries to climb up the horse and takes a gauntleted fist to his face. Glenn Rhee tries for a heroic leap, and lands too close for comfort on Baraka. Conquests horse is finally called down, but medics come out for Glenn and the Mouser. McClane waves them off and says he’s fine, another broken nose, but he’s getting too old for this shit.

Sam can quickly deduce that the Indigo Lanterns light has lost its effect on Terminator and Baraka, and it likely never effected the horsemen. He glances to his brother, who shakes his head and leaves the arena. Conquest drives his team like a slaver up the middle of the field. The hand proving resistant, but not enough. Until suddenly, at the 10 yard line, the ball is hiked and the Hand is nowhere to be seen. An engine revs, and from behind Dean Winchester slams his car into Conquest and Famines horses, crippling them both. Conquest comes off the horse, ball in hand, and is thusly sacked. With minutes left to go, the Leviathans have to settle for a field goal.

The subsequent kick to the Impalers leaves the ball in McClane’s hands, who encounters a vapid Michael Myers and is taken down. Michael seems to have left his knife, and Conquest bans him to the bench. The Impalers offensive power is too much for the Urak-Hai, but they purposely drag their feet to run out the clock, with their last score. Impalers take it 28-42. Iroque is named MVP for the game. Conquest destroys the locker room in his rage.

Season 3 Week 9

BROWNCOATS vs ABERRATIONS
Aberrations outsmart the Browncoats 43 - 27

MIA vs IMPALERS
The MIA show why they're the Fastest Team Alive - ranking up a high score of 89 - 34

EELS vs LEVIATHANS
A passing game back and forth ends when the Leviathans have too many players blackflagged for injury, allowing the Eels to win as the current points leader at 21 - 14

MILITANTS vs SENTINELS
In the second upset of the week, the winless Sentinels break their bad luck streak on the backs of the Militants 32 - 27, mostly as a result of the Militants having several starters injured early on.

PANDAS vs CROWS
Coin Toss: Pandas win, will receive
Kickoff: Buzzsaw kicks for a pickup by Indiana Jones, who manages a decent gain before being taken down by Wonder Woman.
Game Synopsis: The first quarter of the game sees the Crows gain a considerable lead, as the Panda defense can't even touch their offensive line. Jax Teller comes in during the first quarter replacing King Kong as defense for one play. This gives the Pandas basically a free touchdown but during the play Jax injures Fred Flintstone, putting him out for the game. Kong returns to defense after this. Things finally turn darker for the Crows when Neil Patrick Harris manages to seduce Wonder Woman away from the Crows. Kong is deflated and upset and not quite as potent as he previously was, though still stronger than the Panda defense. The Pandas restructure their line. During the second quarter the sexual harrassers manage a few touchdowns and cycle through several bench players. Thunderbird replaces the dejected Kong for a play and ends up injuring Ambush Bug. However the Pandas manage to utilize Kirk to counteract the efficiency of The Doctor. During the second half, Jax returns for a play and injures Cowardly Lion before he gains the courage to fight back. The Pandas turn Wonder Woman against her former teammates and manage to get the truth of their playbook out of them, allowing them to return score. In the end it comes down to raw stats as the slightly superior Kong defense and the fourth quarter injection of Neville without the Pandas own Lion to counteract gives them the upperhand.

After the game the Crows are seen cussing out their newest recruit The War Doctor for allowing Kirk to get into his head.

Final: SHP 39 - CC 41

GRENADES vs AUTOMATONSThe Atlus boys continue a streak of refined gameplay when they pummel the Automatons 38 - 21

Season 3, Week 8

Commissioner's Note: Due to lack of strategies being sent in, and thus lack of plentiful writeups - coupled with finals week, this week will be one quick post with highlights.

GAME ONE:
Aberrations beat Impalers 48 - 21
Highlights: A new player
“As the Aberrations take the field, a new creature comes with them.  It seems to be a giant insect of some sort, complete with huge mandibles and long forearms, with 4 very strong, shorter, human arms attached to the torso.  As the Abberations lineup is announced, they call it “Umber Goro”, and seem to have it playing…kicker…”

Ousa is resurrected from death last week by Jozan. The Aberrations re-kill Falkor.
GAME TWO:
The Eels test their streak with a slight win in triple overtime over the MIA - 121 to 118

GAME THREE:
Grenades win 28 - 21

Grenades win in the third quarter when neither team can field a full team and they are already in the lead.

GAME FOUR:
Browncoats win 33 - 17
Browncoats use the rules of the game and see the Leviathans get blackflagged until they can't field a full team and forfeit.

GAME FIVE:
Pandas win 13 - 6

GAME SIX:
Crows win 40 - 33
HORCRUX/RIDDLE UPDATE:
Following up on the dual clues last week, RIDDLE was able to deduce that the next two targets are Pinhead's Lament Configuration puzzle box and the Holocaust Cloak hanging in the Eels trophy room. As of now, the coalition has not come up with a strategy to destroy either item.

Impalers vs Leviathans

THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
vs.
THE INNSMOUTH LEVIATHANS
Coin Toss: Impalers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Wulfgar kicks for a pickup by Death, who nearly returns for a touchdown before being taken down by Famine.
Game Synopsis: This game sees a slightly tactically superior Impalers blow past the weaker defense of the Leviathans. Meanwhile the Leviathans "waste" time trying to injure members of the Impalers, only to learn that most are immortal and simply heal and return. The Leviathans do manage one death though: President Teddy's own teddy: His bear.

Final: II 28 - IL 14

Impalers vs Grenades

THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
vs
THE ATLUS ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADES

Coin Toss: Grenades win, will receive
Kickoff: McClane kicks for a pickup by Skywalker who makes a short gain.
Game Synopsis: This game stays close the entire time, and we see two teams attempt to exploit every perceived weakness of the other. Nearly every player's kink goes off at some point. In the end it is the Impaler's superior speed that gives them the advantage for most of the game. But in the fourth, the Grenades play a series of kinks that see them score, intercept, and score again - then manage to get a safety when Marston takes out Roosevelt's bear momentarily, causing him to spill back into the endzone after catching the kick. The Grenades win by a slight margin.

Final: II 28 - RPG 30

Impalers vs. Automatons

THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
vs
THE MITHRIL AUTOMATONS

Coin Toss: Impalers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Kong kicks for a pickup by Predator, who makes a large gain before being brought down by the combined forces of several Automatons.
Game Synopsis: In a resounding upset, the Impalers destroy the favored Automatons. Though both sides present some strong plays, the tactical might of the Impalers - boosted greatly by Joe Dawson, can't be matched by the Automatons. Meanwhile the automaton defense can not keep up with the speed of most of the Impaler carriers.

Final: II 44 - MA 21

Impalers vs. Crows

THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
vs.
THE CHARMING CROWS

Coin Toss: Impalers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Green Arrow kicks long to Predator who slips into stealth mode and runs a field-long touchdown.
1st Half: Sinestro and the boys come out and begin to outrun the Impaler defense. It seems as if the Impalers are almost giving the Crows the field. Finally Sinestro goes for a QB sneak into the End Zone on a 2nd and Goal when shit gets crazy. On the Impaler sidelines, Dean Winchester is seen talking to a tall cloaked figure. They shake hands, and shortly after Dean falls dead. Few notice and the play goes on. As Sinestro enters the end zone, a large portal opens up above him and the temperature in the arena rises. From the portal comes out Falkor, but not the Falkor you remember. Having been through hell and back, this isn't your grandmother's luck dragon. Falkor the Don't-Give-A-Fuck Dragon immediately smells a small essence of the man who killed him - Voldemort, and hones in on the ring that Sinestro is wearing. In one move, Falkor bites off Sinestro's ring hand and turns his head and spits it back into the hell portal before it can close - destroying it. Sinestro feels fear for the first time in a long time, then promptly faints. As a result, The Goddamn Batman comes out to QB for the rest of the game.
2nd Half: Batman and the gang begin to reak havok on the Impalers, to redeem their loss last week and the maiming of their quarterback. The Impalers bring it back strong, with Sam honoring his brothers sacrifice and Falkor displaying his new attitude on the field. Both teams are penalized so much that the game is called early in the fourth quarter when neither team can field a full offensive line due to individuals being injured or banned.

Final: II 26 - CC 32

The Roadmap to the death of Voldemort

Browncoats vs. Impalers

THE BIG DAMN BROWNCOATS
vs.
THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
Coin Toss: Impalers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Megaman launches long to Predator, who avoids Swanson and makes a large gain before being taken down by Rey Mysterio, Jr. - almost (but not quite) fumbling the ball.
Entire Game Synopsis: The Impaler offense proves too fast for the Cylons Browncoats to catch, and easily outmaneuver them for a quick touchdown and conversion. For the Browncoats, Neil manages to correctly predict the Bregan D'arethe Immortal Defense plays enough to put the team on a series of first downs to a touchdown and conversion. Though occasionally one team manages to hold back the other for a play or so using a kink, the team rushes or intelligently marches on during the next play. The game remains tied when the clock finally runs out.
Overtime: In Halftime the Immortals look poised to score and finally put an end to the madness when Browncoat Stainless Steel Rat manages to trick them into giving up the ball. With possession and a final chance to win, Neil hands off to Lancer who laterals to Spy, but Spy catches it before he even throws it, putting Spy on the outside line to run it in for a touchdown.

Final: BDB 110 - II 104

Monday, October 28, 2013

Sentinels vs. Impalers

THE CYBERTRON SENTINELS
vs.
THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
Coin Toss: Thanks to Han Solo, the Sentinels win and will receive.
Kickoff: McClane kicks (barefoot) to Ana, who is brutally taken down by Predator (but she likes it).
Game Synopsis: A strong start in the first quarter is overridden when the immortals begin to injure the Sentinels in the second, typically in a way so bad they themselves are injured. But while the Sentinels maintain a lead in the second, when the now-healed Immortals return in the second half facing B-list Sentinels, the tide turns.

Final: CS 36 - II 54

Impalers vs. Eels

THE IMMORTAL IMPALERS
vs.
THE REIGNING HFFL CHAMPIONS:
THE GUILDER BAY SHRIEKING EELS

Coin Toss: The Eels win, will kick
Kickoff: Lord Voldemort kicks the ball long and straight down the middle. The Impalers scramble and Falkor the Luckdragon falls out of the sky dead. The crowd is stunned. The ball hits the ground. Sam Winchester picks it up while beginning to wonder towards Falkor, stepping out of the end zone only to be drive hard back into it and tackled by Alcide for an immediate safety. The medics come out and find that Falkor is dead. Lord Voldemort cackles back to the bench and puts his wand away. Falkor's luck ran out when Avada Kedavra met him.
1st Quarter: The Immortals bring out the other Winchester brother to replace their fallen comrade. Dean wastes no time in revenge when he jumps in his ride and drives right over The Hulk for a touchdown. This pisses off Hulk who spends the conversion time beating up Dean who is injured, but this distraction allows the Immortals to succeed on the conversion - angering Hulk even more. The Eels offense comes out and outmaneuvers Bregan for a quick touchdown by the enraged Alcide. Samwise sneaks in for the conversion. The Immortals come back out to an even-angrier-than-normal Hulk and Goonies but manage to get around them when Sam predicts their movement. Predator gets a touchdown and Duncan gets the conversion. Hulk. Is. Pissed.
2nd Quarter: The Eels come back strong again Samwise helping coach the running backs. Aquaman begins a strong running game with Loras and Spider-man that leads them to the endzone. Clinton manages the Conversion when he tricks Bregan to go down in front of him. With seconds left the Immortals come out and Sam Winchester again manages to predict The Hulk and Goonies play allowing Raiden to make a quarterback sneak become a 40 yard touchdown. You wouldn't believe how angry Hulk gets.
2nd Half: We now see our first truly blowout game. Without finding a way to remove him before scoring so much, the Immortals manage to anger Hulk into a SuperHulk mode and lose any and all ability to get by him other than once a quarter when Sam manages to guess his move and once when Predator uses his stealth. Hulk begins forcing turnovers allowing the Eels to be in nearly-constant possession. And Bregan just can't hold back the tide (sorry, Aquaman joke) of the Eels.

Final: II 42 - GBSE 93

@ Wolfram & Hart Community Center

Paragon Percentage: Gandalf will enter play.

Coin Toss: Slayers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Gimli throws long to Tony the Tiger, who is damn near killed by a joint tackle from Duncan MacLeod and Arthur. Alucard picks up the fumble and returns it to give the Impalers their first victory.
Entire Game Synopsis: The Impalers continue their streak with ease as Gandalf only strengthens their field presence. Highlights include Danifae losing her shit in the fourth quarter to give the Slayers some points, and Dracula returning the favor by sucking her dry.

Result: SS 9 - II 37

Impalers vs. Miners

The Immortal Impalers vs. The Morian Miners
@ The Hunyard Castle Gardens
Paragon Percentage: Gandalf will enter play.
Coin Toss: Miners win, will receive
Kickoff: Gimli sends it in long to Merry Brandybuck, and the game begins with Merry taking a knee to avoid a tackle by Duncan MacLeod.
Entire Game Synopsis: The Miners learn quick who is in control of this game when Gandalf makes it clear that Dumbledore will not be allowed to perform any passes. Relying on a running game, Carl Johnson and Merry become Albus' and though they are able to get by the light defense of the Immortals, their own defense is where the fault really lies. The Impalers err, Impale, the Miners.

Impalers vs. Mustangs

The Immortal Impalers vs. The Manehatten Mustangs
@ Wonderbolt Stadium

Paragon Percentage: No Paragons will enter play.
Coin Toss: Impalers win, will receive.
Kickoff: Bella kicks the ball into play and Van Helsing scoops it up. Rainbow Dash and Arthus attempt a tackle but Van manages to bypass them until finally being taken down by MacGyver with 20 yards to go.
First Quarter: Ana Steele consistently attempts shotgun plays with Rainbow Dash, who has the speed and can get around the Power Pack to gain a few yards each time. However the Power Pack catches on and manages to blitz the offense, causing serious injury to Ana and MacGyver. Both seem to pull through the pain, with Ana actually coming back stronger. She manages to smartly alter her play style, and finally lands a touchdown with Rainbow. However, the Marx Brothers can not handle the offensive might of the Impalers and Duncan MacLeod lands a touchdown as soon as the team gains possession. Arthur successfully gets the two point conversion.
Second Quarter: Yoshimitsu manages to bypass the Power Pack and start strong with a touchdown, but a fumble and a turnover during the try attempt result in Arthur landing a 100 yard return touchdown followed by another conversion. A few possessions pass without any scoring until Rainbow Dash decides she has had enough of this shit and enters play as a DST, intercepts the ball, and scores. An infuriated Dracula drains Rainbow dry and leaves her for dead, scoring himself.
Third Quarter: Gilgamesh enters play as Dracula is escorted off field, and Stewie Griffin comes in to take over for Rainbow Dash.  After a few false starts and turnovers, the Impalers begin a streak of successful downs followed by aggressive offense.
Fourth Quarter: In a stunning move, Khan brings out some type of slug and takes over Morpheus. Before the refs know what is going on, he has managed to have Morpheus cause two turnovers. Coupled with a successful offensive possesion, the Mustangs rally from far behind to a 3 point difference with minutes left. Finally the refs figure it out and Neil d. Tyson comes out while Morpheus is taken to the sick bay. Degrasse successfully calls what play the Mustangs will attempt, and manages to easily provide Arthur with a open line and he runs it for a blowout touchdown. The clock runs out during the try attempt which is blocked.
Results: II 50 - MM 41
